Find out what MAYFIN is all about!

Project MAYFIN: Supporting a multi-action financial literacy increase among young disadvantaged students is a months-long Erasmus+ project initiated by six European organisations and implemented in Poland, Spain, Cyprus, Romania, Portugal, and Italy.

MAYFIN addresses the objective of “Inclusion and diversity in all fields of education, training, youth, and sport” by establishing results that aim to close the financial literacy gap among young people from diverse socioeconomic backgrounds who are in the age range of 15 to 18. Through an online game, a methodological support guide for educators and organisations working with youth, and research on the state of skills development, the project intends to increase the critical competencies of disadvantaged youth. Ultimately, the set of results and suggested tasks will enhance their capacity to adjust to unexpected situations regarding any financial implications. This is particularly significant in the matter of diversity and inclusion in society. “Promoting active citizenship, young people’s sense of initiative, and youth entrepreneurship including social entrepreneurship” is another objective that is being considered within this project. In addition to improving the deficiencies in financial literacy, the project will incorporate extensive research and online game components that identify significant historical events that affected the mindset and development of financial knowledge in different nations. MAYFIN will facilitate a greater awareness of European culture, therefore helping in the establishment of a European identity among the target groups. In turn, the cooperating partners will be capable of determining outcomes that are tailored to the specific framework of each country, including cultural, mental, and historical aspects. Moreover, interaction with the products is about to be promoted through the development of an online game, which engages young people in the subject and imparts the skills needed for proactive future planning, which undoubtedly involves financial management.

Overall, the partnership will create a solution to accomplish its goals by combining the development of financial literacy skills with other identified soft skills and the impact of European events on mindset and skill development within an online game.
