Initial research on the state of skills development and impactful events

Learning between partners in terms of historical and cultural events that influence the different European countries levels of skills development and mindset. The initial research allows the partnership to understand not just how unexpected events have different levels of impact among youth between the different countries, adjust online scenario and learning contents, but also, to help the young generation to understand the different European cultures and promoting, therefore, a stronger identity.

MAYFIN reports on the state of skills development and national impactful events to financial literacy state, compiling 6 national reports developed by each partner, and including a set of recommendations and lessons combining 5 skills associated with the financial literacy skills: Financial literacy and Planning, Critical Thinking, Decision Making, Problem Solving, and Reflective Thinking. The report is available in each of the partnership national languages and English.

Online game

The online game supports skills development, with 25 different scenarios and a story line that includes combination of skills development and is based on European events identified as having a historical impact on the skills development and related mindset. Online learning game offers different scenarios of financial knowledge content adapted to young people that allows them to efficiently learn about financial contents and decision-making attitudes while practicing relevant activities. It  provides users with knowledge advanced content adapted to young people based on a scenarios scheme where each is designed about specific finances content. It contains relevant information, decision-making activities and practical exercises that allow the learner to apply the knowledge to his/her concrete real life situations. It is expected an improvement in the leaner’s capabilities to assure a ready beginning in his/her financial path. The use of gamification is highly discussed as one of the most engaging learning approaches. The Online game is available in each of the partnership national languages and English.

Methodological guide for educators/ organizations supporting youth

A methodological guide ensures that their teaching/training activities runs in accordance with the objectives of financial education and related skills while supporting the reinforcement of the European identity thought the mutual understanding of European historical events that have impacted mindset and skills development.

It is developed allowing to deliver an implementation guide to educators/organizations working with youth taking into account the different country frameworks and cultural differences, while, at the same time engage this group on a learning process to support the development of an European identity. The use of an attractive online game allows the engagement of the young, supporting the development of skills and knowledge while having fun. At the same, by engaging a wide network of stakeholders related with each partner network (schools, municipalities, ONG working with disadvantaged youth groups), the partnership creates a continuous loop dissemination and inputs capture.

This result allows the development of guidelines in the different country contexts by educators/organizations supporting youth, taking into account the different country frameworks and contributing for adjusted guidelines for a proper use on different contexts and, on the other hand, by providing a common guide where educators and organizations can learn with the diversity of contexts and identify opportunities to walk towards a common ground of understanding as European organizations. The set of activities is designed to take advantage of the complementarity of skills and expertise of the partnership to create innovative contents to address a common identified problem not just in the partnership countries but across Europe.
